Danger! Recall for BILLA hummus: Salmonella alarm among consumers!
On April 16, 2025, supermarket chains Billa and Co. announced a comprehensive recall of several products to avoid potential health risks. The recall mainly affects the product “BILLA ALMER GUT HAMSHUKA HUMMUS VEGETABLES 210G”, which is due to the detection of Salmonella spp. in the tahini/sesame paste used has hit the headlines. This product was sold through April 15, 2025. Although no contamination has been detected in the final product, consumption is still not recommended. The precautionary recall covers the entire inventory of the affected product.
Affected customers can return the products to stores without a receipt. In a statement, the supplier Wojnar's Wiener Leckerbissen Delikatessenproduktion GmbH apologized for the inconvenience and pointed out that the health risk was not necessarily caused by the producer, manufacturer, importer or distributor. More recalls due to bones
In addition to this recall, the BILLA Group has recalled other products that may contain dangerous sharp pieces of fish bones. These bones were discovered both in individual packages and in the raw MSC tuna.
