Protests against AfD in Hergatz: Fight fascism! on January 7th

The AfD Westallgäu-Lindau district association is planning its New Year's reception on Tuesday, January 7th, in Itzlings, Hergatz municipality. The announcement was made by district chairman Dr. Rainer Rothfuß published on the Internet. As part of the event, Rothfuß will speak about the topic of “Remigration to Syria”.

A protest action entitled “Fight Fascism. Stop Rothfuß” has been announced against Rothfuß’s speech, which will take place on January 7th at 6 p.m. in Itzlings. The group “Kempten against the right” organized this protest and describes itself as a “network of anti-fascist committed people”. The group criticizes Rothfuß as the “author of the inhumane Bavarian resolution for remigration”.

Previous demonstrations against right-wing radicalism

A large demonstration against right-wing radicalism and the AfD took place in Kempten on February 3, 2024. This event, organized by the Kempten Action Group, attracted over 6,200 participants. It started at St.-Mang-Platz and led to Hildegardplatz.

The main topics of the demonstration included racism, the radicalization of the AfD and its remigration plans. Anja Zengerle, spokeswoman for the action group, called for clear positions and solidarity against the shift to the right. Mayor Thomas Kiechle also took part in the demonstration and expressed his rejection of hatred and nationalism, while various speakers recalled the dangers of AfD politics.

The demonstration was organized under the motto #kemptenhaltenzamm and included musical accompaniment by the band “Stolen Fingers”. A minute's silence in honor of the victims of fascism was also held, initiated by Alihan Ulu of the Left.
