Space travel revolution: SpaceX successfully captures rocket stage!

On the afternoon of January 17, 2025, the impressive Starship mega-rocket launched from the Starbase spaceport in southern Texas, setting a significant milestone in space history. The first propulsion stage, known as Super Heavy, was successfully recaptured after separation, marking the second time SpaceX has achieved this. As the rocket soared on its test flight, video feeds showed the lower stage returning to the launch pad in a controlled manner and being caught by mechanical arms, like the Small newspaper reported.

Technical details of the rocket

Starship is known not only for its breathtaking dimensions, but also for its innovative propulsion systems. To power the rocket, impressive Raptor engines are used, providing four times more thrust than the Falcon 9's Merlin engines. A total of six engines are used in the Starship space shuttle, including three Raptor engines and three special Raptor Vacuum engines optimized for use in space. Super Heavy, on the other hand, is powered by enormous 33 Raptor engines, which provide the necessary thrust when taking off SpaceX explained in detail.

The Starship project aims to develop a fully reusable rocket that will significantly reduce the cost of future space missions. With a height of 70 meters for the first propulsion stage and 50 meters for the space shuttle itself, SpaceX is setting new standards for space travel and plans to use this technology to realize future missions to Mars and beyond.
