Sports places in St. Pölten: A spring cleaning for the youth!
In St. Pölten, the diocescent transport community of Austria (DSGÖ) has directed an urgent appeal to parishes and church facilities in order to bring sports fields and other sports facilities back into playable condition until the end of winter. DSGÖ chairman Sepp Eppensteiner emphasized the importance that these places are playable, clean and inviting. This is not only a question of sports funding, but also an opportunity for pastoral work. Eppensteiner recalled the legendary youth patron of Don Bosco, who gave young people access to sport under his supervision and focused on joie de vivre
.
Positive feedback received the GDGÖ for the existing sports facilities such as the volleyball court of the Göttweig Abbey or the Salesian parish soccer field in Amstetten-Herz. Eppensteiner encouraged the parish officers to carry out a spring cleaning of the sports fields. The initiative is intended to help promote the joy of sport and strengthen the community by holding up values and traditions of sport.
growth through sport
sport is seen as the key to the future viability of the country. The more young people get the possibility of exercising, the more the sense of community and social integration comes to the fore. At the same time, the DSGÖ emphasizes the tradition of the altar serious, young group and Catholic youth groups, which already provide various sports offers. This historical connection between sport and community education is another argument for the need to revitalize sports facilities.
As the activities of the GDGÖ show, sport is not only a pastime, but also an important part of social life, which means joie de vivre and future prospects for many youthful joie de vivre. Eppensteiner asks everyone to face these challenges together.
