Weimar loses 1:4 – coach Orlamünde struggles with personnel concerns!
Weimar.A bitter day for SC 03 Weimar! The Thuringia League brought a bitter 1:4 defeat against the strong guests from Blau-Weiß Neustadt/Orla. Coach Holger Orlamünde was visibly disappointed after the game, especially after being sent off shortly before the end, which further exacerbated an already tense game.
But not everything was lost! A bright spot was the comeback of Manuel Staatz, who was finally back on the pitch after a long battle with a torn cruciate ligament. Substituted after an hour, he caused a stir with an impressive goal to make it 1-2. “That came a little out of nowhere,” said Orlamünde. “After that we had our best phase, but overall we were far too harmless going forward.” The joy of the goal was short-lived, however, as the Weimar team conceded two more goals in the final phase and also lost their captain Frederik Windhauer, who was sent off in stoppage time with a yellow-red card.
Personnel problems for Weimar
“Of course that doesn’t make our personnel situation any easier,” complained Orlamünde. While the offense has stabilized somewhat with the return of Staatz and Ben Neefe, things are looking bleak in defense. Justin Szatmari is injured and now Windhauer will also miss the last game of the year. “We have to think about something for the game against Bad Frankenhausen on Saturday, December 7th,” said the coach. The situation is made even worse by the victories of Saalfeld and Meiningen, because Weimar now holds the Red Lantern. A win before the winter break is urgently needed to boost the team's morale and recharge the batteries.
