The Catholic Church has declared 2025 a Holy Year, a global pilgrimage event that takes place every 25 years. Under the motto “Pilgrims of Hope”, the Catholic parishes of the Dormagen Pastoral Unity are planning a pilgrimage to Rome from September 12th to 18th, 2025. The city is expecting over 45 million visitors during the Holy Year and is considered the spiritual center of Catholicism and a UNESCO world heritage site.

The pilgrim group from Dormagen will experience the cultural diversity of Rome and visit important sights. Highlights of the trip include visiting the Imperial Forums, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, as well as the Papal Basilica of St. Paul. A church service in the catacombs and a walk from the Aventine Hill via the Circus Maximus to Trastevere are also planned. Participation in a papal audience in St. Peter's Square and a tour of St. Peter's Basilica represent the highlight of the pilgrimage.

Information event about the pilgrimage

For anyone interested, an information event will take place on Sunday, January 19th at 12 p.m. in the Römerhaus, Kölner Straße 36. Details about the trip, the planned activities and the services offered are presented there, and the organization team is available to answer questions about the pilgrimage.
