Hainichen helps: Christmas presents for children in Ukraine!
December 9, 2024 was a significant day for the aid organizations in Hainichen, as the 28th aid transport to Ukraine since the outbreak of the war began on this date. An impressive load of relief goods, including 100 camp beds and numerous other donations, was loaded onto a semi-trailer that was destined for Lutsk in northwestern Ukraine. The cargo also included urgently needed items such as dry food, winter clothing, wheelchairs and hygiene products, which were collected by many dedicated helpers and private individuals saechsische.de reported. The necessary costs for transport are covered entirely by donations.
Particularly noteworthy is the Christmas campaign that Volksbank Mittweida launched. This campaign brought together more than 200 lovingly wrapped gifts for children, many of whom have fled war zones. Supporters like Edeka-Markt Schäfer have also contributed numerous food and important goods. Thomas Kretschmann, main organizer of the Communitas association, expressed his joy at the noticeable support from the population, especially during Advent, when many people want to actively help. He recalled that all donations were raised without government funding and purely through private initiatives, which shows great solidarity for the suffering people in Ukraine.
Another sign of hope
In parallel to these activities, the entrepreneur Sven Weißflog from Döbeln has also organized his own aid transport that brings valuable food, hygiene products and gifts for children in need to Kherson. The donations collected are the result of his big birthday and other campaigns that support the people in Döbeln. In addition, Weißflog regularly provides information about his trip and describes the situation on site, which further fuels the willingness to help and commitment mdr.de describes. This joint commitment shows how important solidarity is in these difficult times and gives the suffering population in Ukraine hope for a better future.
