Zadic cleans up: IS brides back in Austria - A farewell gift!
In a dramatic twist, two IS brides, including 29-year-old Maria G. from Salzburg, returned to Austria with their children on Saturday. The repatriation operation took place shortly before the inauguration of the new government, a crucial moment for Justice Minister Alma Zadic, who left this special farewell gift. Reported loudly exxpress.at, the women and their three children landed at Vienna-Schwechat Airport on a scheduled flight from Iraq at around 7 p.m. After many years of her parents' fight for her return, Maria G. von Zadic was spared an arrest warrant and was immediately taken to Salzburg.
The return of the missing women
Maria G.'s fate is a moving event that has repeatedly caused a stir since she was radicalized as a teenager. At the age of 17, she traveled to Syria to join IS and married a jihadist there. After his death, she gave birth to two children with another fighter and spent her last years in the notorious al-Hol refugee camp. The situation of the IS envoys also caused great concern in Austria, where the return operation was rejected for a long time.
In addition, on St. Nicholas Day, December 6th, it was announced that Alma Zadic herself became a mother for the second time. How kosmo.at reported, her son was born at 3:16 p.m. and Zadic shared her joy in an emotional Facebook post: “We are eternally grateful.” In the coming weeks, the minister plans to focus on her newborn son and her family, while Johannes Rauch will temporarily take over her duties.
