Ozapft is! Schweizerhaus opens with a beer price surprise in Vienna

The legendary Schweizerhaus in Vienna's Prater, a popular destination for tourists and locals, will reopen its doors on March 15th after the winter break. This year the cult restaurant is celebrating 105 years of existence. The operators, Hanni and Karl Kolarik, have revealed a big secret in the midst of rising restaurant prices: the price for a Krügerl remains at 5.90 euros, just like last year. This means that the psychologically important 6 euro limit is not exceeded, which increases the guests' anticipation of a cold beer, accompanied by the popular stilts and potato pancakes. This information was confirmed by oe24.at.

The 2024 season will bring a slight price increase, but Kolariks deliberately want to keep it moderate. Compared to last year's price adjustments, which saw the price increase by 40 cents to 5.60 euros, the current adjustment of 5.90 euros is an increase of just 30 cents or 5.2 percent. This decision comes at a time of inflation and rising living costs, as meinbezirk.at reported. Karl Kolarik emphasized that they wanted to keep the price increase for guests as low as possible in order to accommodate them in these challenging times.

The Schweizerhaus will ring in the new season on March 15th with the traditional “Ozapft is”. The anticipation of a sociable spring outing is great, especially since the weather in the Prater is always inviting. While the city of Vienna prepares for the opening, guests can look forward to a relaxing time outdoors, with a Krügerl of beer and the tried and tested, cultivated experience in the Schweizerhaus.
