Leclerc and brother Arthur: Formula 1 history in Abu Dhabi!
In an exciting Formula 1 training session before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc set the fastest time in his Ferrari. The Monegasse surpassed World Championship runner-up Lando Norris in the McLaren and the record world champion Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes. With a time of 1:21.953 minutes, Leclerc delivered an impressive best time right from the start and even increased this to 0.425 seconds by the end of the training session Motorsport magazine reported. His teammate Carlos Sainz was also close and was able to keep up in the top battle.
Familial record
Another highlight was the debut of Leclerc's three-years-younger brother, Arthur, who finished 18th in the second Ferrari. He replaced Carlos Sainz and it was the first time in Formula 1 history that two brothers competed for the same team in a session. Arthur, who finished only 1.8 seconds behind his brother, showed promising approaches and made the fans' hearts beat faster Laola1 determines.
Meanwhile, title rivals Max Verstappen and Mercedes did not come into play as expected. Verstappen had to hold his own in midfield and didn't even make it into the top 10 in training. With only 21 degrees air temperature and 26 degrees track temperature, the conditions were optimal, but the riders had to take advantage of them as some, like Sergio Perez and Norris, struggled with rides. The changes to the track limits this year are intended to help avoid the problems of last year, where many lap times were deleted.
