Missing hiker after a 13-day search found in the Australian National Park
Brisbane, Australia- a 23-year-old hiker, whose disappearance triggered an almost two-week intensive land and air search in the dense Australian hinterland, was found on Wednesday, according to the authorities.
The last known whereabouts of Hadi Nazari
Hadi Nazari was last seen on December 26th by friends when he went along a hiking trail in the Kosciuszko National Park, south of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, to take photos.
When he did not return to his storage space, his friends informed the police. This then started a comprehensive search with 300 emergency services of various rescue organizations, as the NSW police emphasized in a statement.

In the end, Nazari was not discovered by the search teams, but by a group of other hikers, about 10 kilometers from the operations center, around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th."My understanding is that a group of hikers was nearby," said superintendent Andrew Spliet from the police of the Riverina district. "He called to them, introduced himself and explained that he was lost in the bush."

A video published by the NSW Rural Fire Service shows Nazari together with the hikers while waiting for rescue workers who fly out with a helicopter.
Later he was lifted into a helicopter with a winch and transported to the operational center, where it was examined by paramedics.
Spliet expressed that Nazari was "in really good shape". Nazari told the rescuers that he had found two granol bars in an orphaned hut, but "this is practically everything he has eaten in the past two weeks," continued Spliet.

The family of Nazari announced CNN partners 9 News that it was the “happiest day of our life”.
"We spoke to him ... he is okay ... he is fine," said the family according to the broadcaster.
