A spectacular incident occurred in Seefeld on December 28, 2024: A 53-year-old American drove his car onto the cross-country ski trail “B3 – Wildmoos See”. As the ORF Tyrol reported that the man followed his navigation device when he turned onto the prepared cross-country ski trail instead of to Lottensee. The car continued for over half a kilometer before he wanted to turn around due to cross-country skiers coming towards him. But unexpectedly his vehicle sank in fresh, unprepared snow.

When the car got stuck, other skiers called the police. They were able to quickly organize a snow groomer to tow the car back onto the forest road. The entire operation lasted around two and a half hours, which is why the cross-country ski trail had to be re-groomed over a distance of 550 meters.
