A further check on the A1 at 11:30 p.m. revealed a coarse hazard in road traffic: a 25-year-old Upper Austrian slept on the breakdown strip in his unlit car. With a alkotest carried out, it turned out that he had a value of 1.48 per thousand. The driver's license was also temporarily withdrawn and a onward journey was prohibited.

Their license plates were removed and the approval was temporarily lifted. Serious defects were found in a total of four other vehicles, which led to 61 advertisements.
Alcohol consumption and traffic safety
In the context of these controls, it is important to emphasize the dangers of alcohol at the wheel. Loud KFV In the first quarter of 2022, 8.5% of all accidents with personal losses are due to alcohol. This is the highest proportion in the past 30 years. Around 2,300 alcohol accidents occur in Austria every year, in which more than 2,900 people are injured and 31 are killed. It is particularly alarming that almost a quarter of these accidents take place in the summer months, especially in July and August.
KFV experts emphasize the need for personal responsibility among road users and recommend thinking about safe homeways before consumption of alcohol, for example by using public transport or carpooling.
In addition to the alcohol -related controls, the checking of motor bikes in the municipal area of Straßwalchen also came to light. Out of five controlled vehicles, had two exceedances, which led to a total of 14 violations and corresponding advertisements.
