Police in Floridsdorf: Major operation against blank shots and drugs!
An extensive police operation led by the Floridsdorf City Police Command was carried out in Vienna today. The focus was on the area around Floridsdorf train station and the adjacent skate park. The reason for this key action was an incident in which a blank pistol was fired. In this context, the police intensified their presence in this region to increase security and counteract possible further incidents. Small newspaper reports that 25 identity checks were carried out during the comprehensive patrol in this area.
As part of the operation, two administrative reports were made for breaches of decency and two reports were made to the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum (BFA). Equipment and drug discoveries remained unattributed to specific individuals during this inspection, indicating that no specific suspects could be identified in connection with the shooting incident. Investigations into dangerous threats are being continued by the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, North branch.
Security measures after threats at the main train station
Another security-related incident was reported on Monday afternoon, in which a “dangerous threat” was made at Vienna Central Station. This led to a major police operation during which the area had to be evacuated and closed. However, the police classified the threat as not dangerous around 6 p.m. and gave the all-clear. The police confirmed this in a broadcast and lifted the lock on the building shortly before 6:00 p.m. Reported today that explosives detection dogs were used to search during the operation, but the check was negative.
During this time, public transport at the main station was interrupted or short-circuited, causing considerable inconvenience for travelers. However, station operations were quickly resumed. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation in this context and remains active in monitoring and maintaining security in the region.
These incidents underscore the ongoing efforts of the Vienna police to both ensure security in the city and increase presence in potentially problematic areas. ORF Vienna notes that such measures not only serve to intimidate criminals, but also to strengthen the public's trust in the security authorities.
