Osttirol, Österreich - A serious fraud fall shakes the East Tyrolean community. An unknown perpetrator spread a fake video on YouTube in which a former federal politician campaigned for a supposedly lucrative investment. As the police report, a 51-year-old Tyrolean from the East Tyrol district randomly stumbled across the video. This led him to call an enclosed telephone number and to transfer a low five -digit euro amount to a German account in six transactions.

Details on the fraud

The fraud came to light when the man became aware that he had become the victim of a crook. According to the information from Kleine Zeitung it was a federal politician who is currently not in office, but his name remains secret. When asked, the police replied that it is expressly not the former Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. The incident shows how deep fraudsters with fake identities have entered the Internet in order to outsmart unsuspecting citizens.

It throws a dark light on the safety of online investments and the need for vigilance, especially in the face of such unscrupulous machinations that once again shake the trust of the population in social institutions. The incident is a sobering warning that even supposedly trustworthy personalities can get into the catches of fraudsters, as well as 5min.at reports.
