A shocking crime story broke out in Vienna-Penzing on November 19th when a 13-year-old returned to his dorm with a new cell phone. A caregiver recognized the new device and asked the boy to unlock it. Suddenly an alert sounded, followed by a contact number on the screen. The caregiver called the number and learned that the cell phone had previously been stolen in a robbery. The police were immediately alerted vienna.at reported.
The police investigation revealed that the 13-year-old on Hütteldorfer Strasse had threatened a 12-year-old with a handgun in order to take his phone. Another robbery attempt by the same boy was recorded on the same day in Moeringgasse, in which another 12-year-old was also attacked but managed to escape. Both victims were able to identify the perpetrator, who partially confessed and now faces legal consequences.
