Truck accident on Murtal expressway: driver seriously injured!
A serious accident rocked the Murtal expressway near Fohnsdorf on Friday when a truck loaded with pellets left the road for unknown reasons. In a dramatic fall, the truck broke through the deer fence and landed in an adjacent field before sliding sideways around 50 meters. This sensational scene led to an extensive deployment of assistance, reports local media, including meinbezirk.at.
The emergency services, including three fire departments as well as the Red Cross and the police, were quickly on site. An attentive employee of Asfinag and the municipality of Fohnsdorf discovered the accident and immediately informed the rescue workers. He also helped the injured driver out of the vehicle. “The recovery of the truck took a total of around six hours,” explained a fire department spokesman. This information was also confirmed by steiermark.ORF.at, which classified the driver's injuries as serious but not life-threatening.
The emergency services worked under high pressure to provide the driver with care as quickly as possible and set up roadblocks to secure the danger zone. It is not yet clear what exactly caused the accident. The police have started an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of what happened. This incident raises questions about safety on the busy S36 and is being closely monitored by local authorities.
