Escape from the police handle: murder -suspect falls out of windows!

A dramatic incident shook the Salzburg police department: the suspect in the murder of the 52-year-old furniture packer from Salzburg, a 35-year-old, jumped out of a window during his first interrogation. This happened in the Schallmoos district six days ago. The police reacted at lightning speed and was able to arrest him again, as State Police Director Bernhard Rausch confirmed to ORF. The suspect is accused of having killed the victim in 2023 by blunt violence in his apartment. Despite clear DNA traces that associated the man with the crime, he denies the allegations. After this failed escape attempt, the police have to prepare for an internal examination in order to clarify the circumstances of the incident, said 5min.at.

The investigation had started more than a year ago when the 52-year-old was found dead in his apartment on May 31, 2023. Knowns of the man had alerted the police after having not heard from him over a longer period of time. The body showed massive injuries caused by an unknown object. A autopsy was ordered, which confirmed the cause of death, but the exact crime scene is still unclear. The 35-year-old could only be identified as a suspect after a DNA comparison in the national database. He was arrested on January 10, 2025 and is now in custody after using his right to refuse to testify. According to the courier, the investigation should now focus on the motive of the crime and the exact course of the crime.

The current Situation is closely observed by the police, especially due to the explosive circumstances of the attempt to escape. This case is not only suspected of murder, but also the question of how the suspect could be checked full by the police while fleeing was possible. Investigators of the State Criminal Police Office are working hard to deepen the findings in order to finally clarify the case.
