Triple arrests: Police chase dating fraudsters in North Holland!
In a shocking incident, the police arrested a third suspect on Monday for blackmail about fake dating profiles. The 20-year-old man comes from the municipality of Dijk en Waard and is suspicious of having been involved in several raids in Süd-Scharwoude and Sint Pancras. These crimes include that men appear on dating apps as young women through fake profiles to lure their victims to remote places, where they are attacked. According to the police, the investigation shows that at least two groups are involved in this criminal activity, one group of 5 to 8 and the other consists of 3 or 4 people. The exact collaboration of these groups is currently being examined, such as Streekomroep Westfriesland reported.
The perpetrators are increasingly using brutal methods, as the police confirm. At least fourteen attacks have been reported in North Holland since May 2023, and the victims have often suffered serious injuries that even made hospital stays necessary. A 17-year-old boy, who was seen on a surveillance video, how he lifts money with a victim's credit card, also stood up to the police and should soon be responsible for a judge. Another 20-year-old man had already been arrested, who was also imprisoned on this matter.
