Dramatic chase: Drunk racers damaged numerous vehicles!

In a dramatic incident in Carinthia, a series of chases occurred on Wednesday evening that triggered chaotic conditions on the streets around St. Veit an der Glan. Around 5:15 p.m., officials noticed a 28-year-old Lower Austrian who was drunk in traffic. He ignored the police's attempts to stop and raced up to 200 km/h with his Audi TT while damaging several cars. This rapid escape culminated in a collision with a police vehicle that was seriously affected. Overall, numerous accidents were caused, with the driver only lost control of his vehicle shortly before the Klagenfurt Nord motorway node, after he had already suffered tire damage, reports OE24.at.

chase ends with arrest

The first chase was started at 5 p.m. on Rosentaler Straße when a police patrol found two heavily excessive speeds of 120 km/h. A 17-year-old Syrian citizen who was under the influence of drugs and had no driver's license was arrested. The second driver, a 19-year-old from Villach, was able to flee, although his vehicle was ultimately badly damaged. In total, both drivers committed 34 administrative violations, while their offenses were classified as particularly dangerous, as the small newspaper reported.

The persecution of the 28-year-old not only represents an escalation of the situation, but also reveals a worrying escape story: the man should have started a prison on Friday. Since it was at risk of escape, the Klagenfurt public prosecutor ordered its delivery. A total of 10 patrol cars and 20 civil servants were in use to cope with this dangerous situation and to put the racer, which finally came to a standstill in the zigzag course.
