In response to this terrible act, the Swedish government wants to tighten gun laws. An official announcement announced several measures to significantly restrict access to certain semi-automatic weapons, such as the dreaded AR-15 assault rifle. These weapons can cause great damage in a short period of time and should therefore only be accessible to civilians in exceptional cases.
