Speed camera-free Christmas week: Schaumburg district picks up the pace!

In the Schaumburg district there will be no mobile speed controls this week in order to give citizens a peaceful Christmas. In recent years it has been common for the police to carry out intensive checks during this time, but the responsible district spokeswoman has confirmed that the mobile speed cameras will not be used during this holiday week. Nevertheless, road safety remains on the agenda: the stationary speed cameras will continue to be active and the police will carry out sporadic speed measurements. The mobile speed cameras will be available again from January 2nd, reported SN-online.de.

Fines and catch differences

There is a tolerance of three percent for drivers who exceed the speed limit outside built-up areas. For speeds below 100 km/h, a deduction of three km/h is made before the fines are determined. For example, speeders who exceed the speed limit by up to 10 km/h will face a fine of 20 euros, while speeding by 21 to 25 km/h will result in a fine of 100 euros. In urban areas, exceeding the speed limit by up to 10 km/h results in a fine of 30 euros, which is significantly higher than the penalties on country roads. This information comes from serviceportal-schaumburg.de.

The fines office also has the task of contacting the driver concerned before issuing a fine notice. It informs you about the possibility of filing an objection against the decision, which can be done within two weeks. The current fees currently amount to 5 percent of the fine, but at least 25 euros. A timely reaction can therefore be crucial for road users in order to minimize possible financial consequences.
