Police in Hesse: GdP warns of catastrophic atmosphere on duty!

In a dramatic appeal to the Hessian state government, the police union (GdP) presented an open letter to Prime Minister Rhein and his deputy Mansoori in Wiesbaden today. “The mood within the police is not just bad, it is catastrophic,” explains GdP leader Jens Mohrherr. The wave of outrage is enormous: GdP officials have received over a thousand emails that testify to a feeling of disappointment and betrayal. Many civil servants feel abandoned by the government!

Officials feel betrayed!

The unrest among the officials is palpable. After the most recent collective bargaining negotiations, in which those in power in Wiesbaden cheerfully “popped the champagne corks,” the officials’ concerns have become reality. The hoped-for inflation compensation payment was relabeled to give the appearance of appreciation. But the decisive percentage tariff increase has been postponed until 2025! “We as unions swallowed this toad at the time because we knew that both the lower income groups and the salary groups (A6-A10) had been waiting for payment for more than a year!” Mohrherr continued. This deviation from the principle that civil service law follows collective bargaining law is perceived as “a slap in the face” to state civil servants.

The GdP sharply criticizes the Hessian state government, which on the one hand proclaims constitutional conformity as the guiding principle of its budgetary policy decisions, while on the other hand it ignores the unconstitutional salary of civil servants. Officials are calling for a clear and fair solution as uncertainty continues to grow over the Federal Constitutional Court's pending decision on the matter. The situation remains tense and the officers are on the barricade!
