New living in Simmering: Haus Haidehof and community housing in focus
There will be some important construction projects in Simmering in the coming years that will further improve the quality of life in the district. At a recent information event held by the City of Vienna, citizens were informed about the planned developments, in particular the new building of the “Haus Haidehof”. The aim of these events is to actively involve the population in the planning process and to communicate transparently about new projects.
The managing director of Haus zum Leben, Christian Hennefeind, emphasized that the developments in Simmering are not only focused on the new residential home for older people, but also on the construction of a new community building, which is to be built in direct connection with Haus Haidehof. This commitment aims to improve existing living structures in order to meet the increasing need for care and support.
Construction projects in detail
The “Haus Haidehof” is designed as a modern residential home for senior citizens and is intended to create a livable environment that is specifically tailored to the requirements of this age group. District leader Thomas Steinhart (SPÖ) explained that the new home will not only offer modern living options, but also wants to set up an intergenerational club where activities for people of all ages can take place. This promotes integration and exchange within the community.
In addition to this dormitory, the Thürnlhofsiedlung North is also being redesigned. Around 300 new apartments, which will also be equipped with underground parking spaces, will be built on the site of the existing garages on Thürnlhofstrasse and Pantucekgasse. This not only increases living comfort, but also ensures that the existing parking options are retained. There is still the opportunity to comment publicly on the plans until November 28th before they are decided by the local council.
Another project on the radar includes the renovation of the Salvador Allende Courtyard, part of which has already been renovated. In addition, a new community building in conjunction with an underground car park is also being planned at Wilhelm-Kreß-Platz 29-30, with future expansions for existing schools and kindergartens also to be taken into account.
These developments in Simmering are a direct response to the changing needs of the population. The increased construction activity is part of the city's comprehensive strategy to improve support and living quality for all citizens.
