New campus for nursing training opens in Favoriten
A new location for bachelor's programs in health and nursing was opened at the FH Vienna campus in the Favoriten district. This new building, constructed on the Altes Landgut campus, is a direct response to the increasing need for healthcare professionals. City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) described this step as significant progress in the training offensive in the nursing sector.
The campus offers modern infrastructure that enables a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. In over 100 functional, simulation, teaching and seminar rooms, students have the opportunity to learn the necessary skills and try out their skills in a protected environment. This comprehensive equipment is crucial in order to optimally prepare young specialists for the real challenges in the healthcare sector.
The importance of training in nursing
The new training facility will significantly expand the capacity of the FH Campus Vienna, creating space for a total of 2,150 students. Of these, 1,400 places are specifically earmarked for nursing studies, while the remaining places are dedicated to other health professions, such as midwifery, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. In recent years, Vienna has significantly doubled and modernized the number of nursing training positions in order to meet increasing requirements.
The city of Vienna has set itself ambitious goals. By 2030, around 16,000 people are expected to be trained in nursing professions. These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to combat the shortage of skilled workers in nursing. In view of demographic developments and the increased demands on the healthcare system, this initiative is extremely urgent.
Vienna's commitment to nursing training not only creates new training positions, but is also an important step towards ensuring health care in the future. Details of this significant development are can be read in a report from wien.orf.at.
