A14 renovation at Nüziders: Bridge closed, detours threaten!

The A14 Rheintal/Walgau Autobahn has been the scene of comprehensive renovation work since mid-April 2025, which particularly affects the Bludenz-Nüziders junction. ASFINAG, the company responsible for the motorway, has announced that the construction work is carried out on a section between Nenzing-Bludesch and Brandnertal about one kilometer long. This measure includes urgent repair work on the bridge as well as renovations of the roadway and the drainage systems. In addition, two water protection systems are built to increase traffic safety.

A moment, a bridge over the motorway near Nüziders is closed, which means that the bike path underneath cannot be used. Drivers have to adjust to partial diversions, in particular the departures and entrances to the Bludenz-Nüziders junction are affected. The departure towards Innsbruck remains closed until June 10, 2025, with a detour via the Brandnertal semi-connection point back to the Bludenz-Nüziders junction.

The construction work depends on the weather, which is why short -term shifts are not excluded. A number of planned blocks in the coming weeks should be noted:

• 11. June to June 20, 2025: lock of the driveway towards Innsbruck.
• 23. June to June 25, 2025: lock of the driveway towards Bregenz.
• 4. July to July 6, 2025: lock of the departure towards Bregenz.

For cyclists, a detour has been set up on the L190, the country road and the Illweg since April 22, 2025. This should probably be observed until November 20, 2025.

ASFINAG invests a total of around 12.5 million euros in the measures that are to be completed by December 2025. In the course of this construction work, another construction site is also being processed at Klaus, where repair work is carried out on a section of about two kilometers long. Two lanes remain open per direction, and there is also a speed limit of 60 km/h.

The renovation work is intended to improve traffic safety and the infrastructure of the A14 sustainably, so that both commuters and freight traffic can benefit from the modernizations. The current construction projects illustrate the importance of the A14 as a central traffic axis in the region.
