Vorarlberg Football season 2024/25: Master and bitter descent!
Dornbirn, Österreich - The 2024/25 season in Vorarlberg amateur football ended with emotional highlights and bitterly descended. The championship title in the Regionalliga West went to SV Austria Salzburg, which can thus climb into the higher league. At the same time, the SC Röfix Röthis and the traditional FC Dornbirn in 1913 had to accept the descent, whereby a lawsuit against three national associations was pending, as Vol.at reports.
In the elite league, FC Lustenau secured the championship title and the subsequent climb in 1907. The relegations from this league are FC Nenzing, RW Rankweil and FC Sohm Alberschwende. These developments illustrate the dynamics within the leagues and the difficulties with which many clubs are faced.
The descent of FC Dornbirn
The precarious situation of FC Dornbirn is particularly emphasized. The association faces a new descent into the Vorarlberg elite league, the fourth largest division. In 2024, due to serious financial problems, he was denied admission to Admiral 2nd league. Dornbirn had liabilities of 849,400 euros and therefore had to go through a renovation process, which has now been finished. However, despite the efforts, the Regionalliga-West Commission decided that the club must relegate due to the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings. This decision is based on paragraph 4 of the regional league provisions, which became active at short notice after an anonymous note, reports [Laola1] (https://www.laola1.at/de/fussball/regionalligen/ Regionalliga-west-fc-fornbirn-doht-nut-wangsmstauf/).Gerhard Ölz, the fc Dornbirn chairman, outraged the decision and plans to take protest against the removal. This measure, which was also contested in court, could mean a decisive turn for the association, since the association has been fighting financial uncertainties for years. Despite these adversity, management plans to address the challenges, but the question remains how long the association can endure this pressure.

These developments not only show the sporting achievements of the clubs, but also throw a shadow on economic sustainability in football, as wdr.de. The challenges of refinancing and neglecting young work are problems that affect many clubs in the region and beyond
The coming season will show how the leagues will develop and how clubs like FC Dornbirn can continue to assert their place in the football landscape.
