VKI test: Eight body lotions endanger your health!

In a recent test, the association for consumer information (VKI) examined 15 different body lotions and looked critically at their ingredients. Of the tested products, two cut off as "very good", six as "good" and four as "average". The vast majority of the lotions donate moisture and ensures a pleasant skin feeling, but some contain worrying chemicals that are classified as potential endocrine disruptors. These substances are known for how hormones are and can cause health damage even in low doses. Fets, toddlers and adolescents are particularly at risk in puberty, as they are particularly sensitive to such substances. These findings will be announced in more detail in the upcoming May issue of the magazine Konsum and on the VKI.at website. According to [ots.at] (https://www.ots.at/presseaus-sung/ots_20250423_ots0009/vki-tebodylotion-vier-vier-werben- chemicals), many of the lots tested have allergy-causing fragrances in their ingredients.

The possible effects of endocrine disruptors on human health are serious. In addition to hormonal disorders, you can also affect development processes, which is related to an increase in certain types of cancer, infertility and metabolic diseases. Experts warn that particularly pregnant women and children are at risk from these substances and indicate that many conventional cosmetics, including body lotions, still contain these problematic ingredients. According to [biomazing.ch] (https://biomazing.ch/endokrine-disruptoren-in-kosmetik-der-Utimative- ed-Guide/), over 25 % of cosmetic products in Germany are affected.

Test results and consumer protection

According to the VKI test, some well-known brands were found among the tested products that could not convince. The Nivea received rich Body Milk 72h moisture and the Ritual of Karma 24h Hydrating Body Lotion of rituals only the evaluation "average". The test winner, on the other hand, is an in -house product of a renowned drugstore chain, which is available at a price of only 0.49 euros per 100 ml. These results not only show the price sensitivity, but also the possibility of finding high-quality personal care at an affordable price, as puls24.at.

The test results also illustrate that the proportion of packaging of cosmetic products and their environmental characteristics is also in need of improvement. The chemical and pollutant expert Birgit Schiller noted that there is a great need for optimization. In view of the broad spectrum of potentially harmful ingredients, consumers should handle the choice of care products.

The comprehensive examination not only provides interesting insights into the ingredients of body lotions, but also throws a light on the need for stricter consumer protection. The VKI recommends paying attention to the ingredients of cosmetic products more consciously in the future in order to minimize health risks.
