Traffic report: A10 flows calmly, A4 closed after truck accident!
Nickelsdorf, Österreich - On July 5, 2025, the ÖAMTC reports that the traffic situation on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) is smooth. In the rest of Germany there are no major delays, apart from the Ost Autobahn (A4). This was temporarily blocked after a truck accident happened towards Hungary, which led to a traffic jam of about 7 kilometers. However, the lock was quickly lifted and the traffic jam dissolved quickly.
In addition, international travel experienced a backlog of about an hour at the Slovenian-Croatian border crossing Gruskovje-Macelj. In the Greater Zagreb area, due to a major event in the afternoon, longer delays will be expected, while the traffic situation remains calm as a whole.
Overview of the East Autobahn (A4)
The Ost Autobahn (A4) extends over a total length of 66 kilometers and begins in Vienna, while it ends at the Nickelsdorf border crossing. It is not only a key connection between Vienna and Budapest, but also an important traffic route to Vienna Airport, Slovakia and Hungary. The road is part of the European roads 58 and 60, and the traffic load has increased particularly after the ingredient is eliminated.
Infrastructure measures such as the expansion to three traces on the Schwechat node have already been implemented in order to meet the increasing traffic requirements. Historically, the expansion of Budapester Straße, which was taken over in 1838, goes back until the opening of various sections of the route. The last of these sections was completed in 2000.
traffic load and traffic jam information
The A4 is a critical point for traffic jams, especially when traveling, especially during the summer vacation. Border controls in Nickelsdorf can cause traffic jams of up to 20 km, which can lead to a loss of time of up to 7 hours. Construction sites at rest areas, especially in Fischamend and Maria Ellend, also contribute to the susceptibility to traffic jams. In order to increase traffic safety, a speed check was introduced between Fischamend and Göttlesbrunn.
The traffic situation is an important aspect for economic integration in Europe, which is also promoted by institutions such as the UNECE and ITF. These organizations are committed to efficient traffic policy that not only support and promote trade, but also the tourism sector in the region.
The current traffic situation shows how significant a well -developed traffic infrastructure is for mobility and business. The A4 remains an essential element in the transport network and will continue to focus on infrastructure measures in order to meet the increasing traffic load.
