A dramatic operation is taking place on the Pitztal Glacier in Tyrol, where a winter sports athlete fell into a dangerous crevasse on Friday morning around 10:30 a.m. The man fell about 30 meters and could only be rescued thanks to a courageous rescue operation by the emergency services. According to mountain rescuer Christian Rimml, the athlete remained lying on a snow bridge, which defused his condition. He escaped comparatively lightly with minor injuries, reports the crown.
