On March 6, 2025, around 12:35 p.m., there was a dramatic skiing accident in the Hochpustertal ski area in Sillian. A 57-year-old German skier collided with a previously unknown(!) skier on the red piste 5/5a. The 57-year-old sustained injuries of an unspecified degree during the encounter. Despite her injury, the unidentified skier administered first aid but left the scene of the accident without leaving her contact details after piste rescue arrived. The injured woman was immediately taken to the Lienz hospital, as both dolomitenstadt.at and kleinezeitung.at reported.

The Lienz police station is now looking for witnesses to the incident as well as the unknown skier who may be able to provide valuable information about the course of the accident.
