Drunk driver flees after horror crash in Alpbach!
On Monday, August 26, 2025, there was a spectacular accident in Alpbach in the Kufstein district in which a drunk driver raced into a steep field and then fled the scene of the accident. According to oe24.at, a 20-year-old spotted both a damaged fence and tire tracks in the morning. These led to the badly damaged vehicle, which was hidden between trees in a nearby forest.
The police were alerted and were able to contact the 40-year-old driver by telephone. Upon subsequent personal contact, it emerged that she was under the considerable influence of alcohol. Luckily no one was injured, but the damage to the vehicle was enormous and was classified as a total loss. The exact circumstances of the accident are currently still the subject of investigations.
Noticeably high number of alcohol-related traffic accidents
imticker.ch reported, a breath alcohol sample showed a value of 1.04 mg/l, which is well above the legal limit. The officers then ordered a blood and urine sample. The driver was also banned from driving until the Road Traffic Office made a decision.
The damage from the accident in Lucerne amounted to around 14,000 francs, although fortunately there were no personal injuries. This shows once again that despite the often benign outcome of alcohol-related accidents, the consequences can be serious, both financially and legally.
The dangers of drunk driving
Recent incidents shed light on the dangers of driving under the influence. According to figures from [kenne-dein-limit.de](https://www.kenn-dein-limit.de/ Alcohol consumption/numbers-und-grafiken/verkehrsunfaelle-unter-lokaleinfluence/), the number of traffic accidents caused by alcohol is alarmingly high. Every year, many such accidents have serious consequences. Prevention and awareness-raising are therefore crucial to avoid such dangerous situations.
The two most recent cases from Tyrol and Lucerne illustrate the life-threatening risks that drunk drivers pose for themselves and others. Investigations into the accidents are ongoing and it is hoped that such incidents can be avoided in the future.
