Roof structure fire in Innsbruck: 27-year-old ensures fire service
In a dramatic incident in Innsbruck, a roof structure fire occurred on the evening of November 15, 2024, which caused significant property damage. The fire broke out at approximately 10:02 p.m. in an inhabited outbuilding of a farm building. The trigger was an open smoke pipe that released smoke gases and heat into the false ceiling after using a tiled stove. This unfortunate combination resulted in the fire smoldering unnoticed in the ceiling structure.
The 27-year-old resident first noticed a sudden power outage in the apartment. Shortly afterwards, he and his neighbors became aware of the worrying smoke developing in the roof area. The Innsbruck professional fire brigade was quickly there to check the situation and discovered a massive fire in the false ceiling.
Firefighting measures and rescue
Firefighters had to work under heavy breathing apparatus to open the ceiling with special tools and fight the fire. Thanks to the quick response of the emergency services, the fire was finally brought under control and declared extinguished at 11:55 p.m. What is particularly pleasing is that no one was injured in this incident, despite the dimensions of the fire.
However, the damage to the building is significant, meaning it remains uninhabitable for the time being. The Innsbruck professional fire department was on duty with six vehicles and 16 emergency services, which underlines the severity of the situation. The material damage caused is classified as significant and will have to be assessed in the coming days.
