Blues night in Imst: Clarence Spady and the Neal Black Band inspire
IMST – The city stage in Imst recently experienced a rousing anniversary concert by the Art Club Imst. The two prominent blues artists, Clarence Spady and the Neal Black Band, gave the audience a lively performance that impressively showcased the roots of the blues as a cultural heritage. Her performance, which was both powerful and sensitive, created an exciting musical experience that captivated listeners.
Clarence Spady, a legend in the blues scene and born in 1961, delivered once again, despite having already experienced personal challenges. He became known for his debut album “Nature of the Beast” and his nomination for the prestigious W.C. Cell Phone Award. His musical versatility was evident in his performances as he juggled flowing solos and deep riffs. Particularly moving were pieces like “K-Man,” a tribute to his son who died in infancy, and the title track of his new album “Surrender.”
Dynamic accompaniment and emotional depth
The Neal Black Band, consisting of Neal Black (vocals, electric guitar), Denis Palatin (drums) and Abder Benachour (bass), added to the intensity of Spady's performance. Together they provided a dynamic performance that added fresh accents to the classic blues and created a lively atmosphere. This balance between melancholy and joy of life was always present in Spady's songs and found a perfect complement in the band's earthy rhythms.
Right from the start, the connection between Spady and the audience was clearly noticeable. He invited his listeners to share in his musical journey by encouraging them to sing and dance along. With a successful mix of personal charisma and musical passion, he quickly conquered the hearts of his audience.
Special moments and emotional highlights
It became particularly impressive when Clarence Spady picked up the acoustic guitar at the end of the concert. These special, emotional acoustic moments, in which he performed classics such as a song by Etta James and Eric Clapton's “Tears in Heaven”, created an almost awestruck silence in the hall. Finally, the entire audience joined in the final song, turning the room into a large choir.
The evening was finally celebrated with frenetic applause, cheering whistles and multiple encores from crowds of fans. Spady's energy and the unmistakable style of the Neal Black Band made this evening a true highlight as part of the 40th anniversary of the Art Club Imst. In the past, he has already organized top-class blues nights with artists such as Walter Trout, Jeff Jenson and Robben Ford, and the anniversary concert once again demonstrated that the tradition of blues is alive in Imst.
