On June 19, 2025, this year's gala for "The World’s 50 Best Restaurants" took place in the Lingotto Fiere Congress Center in Turin, where the best gastronomic facilities were awarded worldwide. This year the title of the best restaurant in the world goes to "Maido" in Lima, Peru, which is under the direction of chef Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura. The restaurant, known for its unique combination of Japanese cuisine and Peruvian ingredients, was able to work out from 5th place in the previous year.
"Maido" offers its guests a multi-course tasting menu and is famous for its Nikkei kitchen. The full ranking shows the variety of international gastronomy and includes renowned restaurants from various continents.
The top positions
- 1. Maido - Lima, Peru
- 2. Asador Etxebarri - Atxondo, Spain
- 3. Quintonil -Mexico city
- 4. Diverxo - Madrid, Spain
- 5. Alchemist - Copenhagen, Denmark
- 33. Steirereck - Vienna, Austria
- 50. Restaurant Jan - Munich, Germany
The Viennese restaurant "Steirereck" has received the title of the highly placed restaurant in German -speaking countries with the 33rd place, but falls from 22nd place compared to the previous year.
