20 years of the Rosental ice rink: surprise visit from Franz Voves

A very special event was celebrated in Rosental: the ice rink, which opened 20 years ago, is still very popular. In November it opened its doors again to all ice cream enthusiasts. For this anniversary, former state governor Franz Voves insisted on taking part in a spangerl shooting as a surprise guest.

Although the celebrations were largely kept secret in advance, Mayor Johannes Schmid was all the more pleased with the successful surprise effect, which was aimed at surprising former mayor Franz Schriebl. Schriebl had supported the ice rink for years and was visibly touched by the unexpected visit at the event.

A memorable anniversary

The ice rink was opened in 2004 by Franz Voves and has since attracted numerous visitors. A look back over the last two decades brought back memories of previous events, including a dumpling shoot where Voves already failed to win. Even at the anniversary spangerl shooting, luck wasn't on his side and he suffered another defeat.

In a warm speech, Mayor Schmid praised Franz Schriebl's tireless commitment to leisure activities in the region, especially with regard to the ice rink. He also expressed his gratitude to Franz Voves for the support he received at the time. Engelbert Köppel, who has served as chairman of ESV Rosental for 25 years, also emphasized how important the ice rink is for the community and that it is always well maintained.

The history of the ice rink is therefore not only an infrastructure success story, but also a link for the community and a place where memories are created.
