Bezzecchi conquers Pole in Spielberg - Marquez falls into qualifying!
On August 16, 2025, MotoGP qualifying for the Grand Prix of Austria took place in Spielberg. Marco Bezzecchi, who drives Aprilia team, secured the pole position. He prevailed against three Ducati drivers in qualifying and distanced Marc Marquez by just 16 thousands of seconds, which, however, fell in the final phase of qualifying, but was unharmed.
Bezzecchi’s great performance meant that he started a race from pole position for the first time in 2023. Behind him, Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez, the younger brother of Francesco, joined second and forth in places. The top five were supplemented by Enea Bastianini, the best KTM driver, in fifth place and Pedro Acosta, who landed in seventh place due to an error.
Injuries and failures
A negative aspect of qualifying was the violation of Maverick Viñales, which fails for the entire weekend due to an acute shoulder injury. This message disappointed the fans who had hoped for an exciting performance by the experienced driver.
After qualifying, the sprint race took place in the Murtal at 3:00 p.m., which offered further exciting moments.
