Ski World Cup fever: Men fight for medals in the team event!

The 2025 Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm are in full swing, and the ninth day promises a real spectacle for fans. The big highlight of the day is the men's team combination, which begins at 10 a.m. with the downhill run. This is followed by the slalom round at 1:15 p.m. Between competitions, spectators can visit the fan mile from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., which offers numerous attractions, including the Center Stage and the Medal Plaza, where the best athletes are celebrated. How Laola1 reports, the competitions are also a big event for the local spectators.

Teams and athletes in focus

On the same day, the team for the upcoming World Cup in the USA, which begins on Monday, will also be announced. Daily Gazette reports that Swiss Ski has selected twelve men. Nine of these athletes fully meet the selection criteria, while three, including Luca Aerni, Justin Murisier and Elia Zurbriggen, only half met the criteria but are also allowed to travel overseas due to the “youth bonus”. These athletes are Gino and Mauro Caviezel, Didier Défago, Beat Feuz, Carlo Janka, Patrick Küng, Sandro Viletta, Silvan Zurbriggen and Daniel Yule.

A particularly important point concerns Bernhard Niederberger, who was put on the registration list. However, he will not travel to Beaver Creek initially, but could be called up as a substitute for the team competition if one of the other athletes has health problems. This is possible because the Swiss Ski delegation has not yet exhausted the maximum quota of 14 athletes.
