Serious motorcycle accident in Jaidhof: Two bikers fight for their lives

Landesstraße 57, 10 Jaidhof, Österreich - On June 14, 2025, at 5:10 p.m. on the Landesstraße 57 in the municipality of Jaidhof, Krems-Land district, a serious accident between two motorcyclists. A 51-year-old driver from the Korneuburg district was traveling from Gars am Kamp towards Gföhl when he slipped in a right curve and got on the opposite lane. Here he collided head-on with a 69-year-old motorcyclist who drove in the opposite direction. Both drivers suffered serious injuries in the collision, the 51-year-old was flown to the KREMS state clinic with an emergency helicopter, while the 69-year-old was brought to the State Clinic Horn with an ambulance, such as Fireworld reported.

The incident in Jaidhof is part of a worrying trend that shapes the beginning of the 2025 motorcycle season. In the past few days there have been several serious accidents that many motorcyclists brought in mortal danger. According to KURIER, the most tragic accident occurred in Bad Schönau, where a 16-year-old biker died after a failed overtaking maneuver of a platform. His 18-year-old friend was seriously injured. In Upper Austria, too, two young motorcyclists collapsed head -on and suffered serious injuries.

increase in motorcycle accidents

The accident statistics show that spring is often characterized by tragic events for motorcyclists. The traffic clubs exhort bikers to caution and emphasize that such accidents are not inevitable in spring. Georg Scheiblauer, motorcycle manager of the ÖAMTC driving technique, recommends, among other things, a familiarization phase after long breaks and checking all important components of the motorcycle before the journey. In addition, participation in driving technique training is offered under safe conditions to minimize the risk of accidents.

The incidents are alarming in the context of the current accident statistics. By November 3, 2024, 78 motorcyclists lost their lives, which is about 25% of all traffic fatalities. These figures make it clear that motorcycle accidents represent a serious danger, especially since 80% of the fatal accidents are self -inflicted. Frequent causes are not adapted speed and misunderstood overtaking maneuvers, whereby the risk remains high, especially for returners and inexperienced drivers. ÖAMTC emphasizes that despite a decline in the risks, the situation is generally stagnated by motorcyclists.

Enlightenment and driving safety training

The increase in motorcycle accidents and accidents with serious injuries makes it clear that there is an urgent need for action. The need for educational work and secure infrastructures is greater than ever. The fact that motorized two -wheelers are involved in such a high proportion of the traffic fatalities underlines the need for special training and security campaigns.

To help motorcyclists, the federal government in the federal states of Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Styria and Burgenland supports support in participating in driving technique training, with up to 100 euros. This could help increase security on the streets and to avoid tragic accidents such as that in Jaidhof.
