Students conjure up joy in the nursing home: an unforgettable day in St. Veit!
St. Veit am Vogau, Österreich - A special connection between young and old was recently created in St. Veit am Vogau: pupils of the fourth grade of the Straß middle school attended the Senecura nursing home. This visit took place as part of a social project in religious education, with the aim of loosening up the everyday life of the residents. The children took the opportunity to take responsibility and gain interpersonal experiences. Small cribs were built from butter cookies, texts read and sung together. The campaign ended with a relaxed coffee in which the students and the seniors exchanged intensively. To say goodbye, the young visitors promised to return soon, as Meinzirk.at reported.
community and support
The funding between the generations is not only important in the school area. According to Vorarlberg.orf.at, poverty has serious effects on everyday school life, which underlines the importance of such social projects. It becomes clear that the exchange between young people and the elderly is not only a social responsibility, but also a valuable learning experience for both sides. The pupils not only got the chance to spread joy, but also to develop a better understanding of the challenges of the older generation.
In times when community is used more than ever, this Initiative is a shining example of cooperation that not only enriches the everyday life of residents in the nursing home, but also sharpens the awareness of young people for social issues. Such projects offer a platform to promote empathy and respect for older generations and at the same time anchor the importance of social responsibility.
