Shocking allegations: Influencers endanger children online!
In an explosive case, the influencer “Sonnenscheincatering”, known for his humorous video posts on TikTok and Instagram, has made serious allegations against his colleague “2meter model Mr Lova Lova”. These allegations target alleged sexual content and inappropriate contact with minors. In a ten-minute video, Sonnenscheincatering speaks seriously and emotionally about the incidents.
“2meter model Mr Lova Lova” has a wide reach and particularly appeals to young people and children. It is critically noted that this influencer publishes content that is not compatible with being a role model. Despite his problematic behavior, he has already been invited to schools and presented positively by educational staff, raising questions about the access of such personalities to children in educational institutions.
Problem of sexual exploitation
The allegations against “Mr Lova Lova” highlight the general problem of sexual exploitation and abuse of children, especially in the digital space. Protection against sexual exploitation, both online and offline, is crucial for the growth of children and young people. Sebastian Gutknecht, Director of the Federal Center for the Protection of Children and Young People in the Media (BzKJ), emphasizes how important it is to protect children on social media, when gaming and when watching films. A Europe-wide day of action will therefore take place on November 18, 2024 under the motto “New technologies: threats and opportunities to protect children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse”, which was initiated by the Council of Europe.
The allegations against “Mr Lova Lova” also include access to a Telegram group accessible via his Instagram account. Although joining the group requires formal confirmation of adulthood, there is no real control. In this group, the influencer's sexual fantasies and evaluative comments about young women should be expressed. There was also a vote on the publication of a masturbation video, which was subsequently posted. Despite these serious allegations, there has so far been no reaction from authorities.
Call to action
Sonnenscheincatering calls on the media, influencers and authorities to finally act. He emphasizes that he cannot carry out an investigation and calls for support. He also states that other accounts document the behavior of “Mr Lova Lova”, but without public response. The question of child protection on the Internet is particularly pressing here. There is an urgent need for control mechanisms as well as digital media literacy and increased awareness in schools and parents. The influence of social media in education and the behavior of influencers should be viewed critically.
The problem is further highlighted by the increase in cases of sexualized online exploitation during the Covid-19 pandemic. Loud World Vision Germany 29 million cases were reported worldwide in 2021, an increase of 35% compared to the previous year. Children aged 7 to 10 are particularly affected, and the increase in this age group is 235% within a year. These cases have long-term mental and physical consequences for the children affected.
To counteract this, the need for growing up safely with media is emphasized. The Digital Services Act (DSA), which came into effect in 2024, requires digital service providers to provide child-friendly reporting and remediation procedures. In this context, the BzKJ cooperates with other actors and carries out discourse formats in order to jointly develop protective measures.
In view of current events and advancing digitalization, it is more important than ever that the protection of children and young people online is a priority. The call to society it is clear: child protection must not be negotiable. The community is called upon to take action and advocate for the interests of the most vulnerable members of our society.
