Scheiblehner starts new chapter at the Grasshopper Club Zurich!

Zürich, Schweiz - Gerald Scheiblehner signed a two -year contract with the Grasshopper Club Zurich, which is valid until summer 2027. This decision was followed by his farewell to Blau-Weiß Linz on Monday, where he worked as a coach for four years. The Grasshopper Club, also known as the record champions of Switzerland, announced the signing of the contract on Tuesday. Scheiblehner, 48 years old and originally from Upper Austria, sees great potential in the new task.

After the takeover of Thomas Oral, who headed the club at the end of the table and secured the relegation through the relegation, Scheiblehner's main goal is the implementation of the "new sporting orientation", which was announced by sports director Alain Sutter. Sutter describes Scheiblehner as a trainer who wants to offer young, motivated players an optimal stage to develop.

Scheiblehner, born on February 25, 1977, began his career as a youth player at Voest Linz and SC Marchtrenk before playing as a professional especially for Austria Vienna. After various stations, including a short engagement at ASKÖ Donau Linz, he switched to blue and white Linz in 2021. There he brought the club, which he trained in the past, back to the top of the Austrian football second division. His successes led to he was appointed coach of the year in 2023. With his new function, he now wants to build on the Grasshopper Club Zurich.

Scheiblehner is now entering a phase in which the club wants to reorient itself.

The start of training for the new season is on Thursday, and Scheiblehner will take his assistant Toni Mestrovic and Alexander Zellhofer to Zurich. The anticipation for the coming season is great and expectations of the new sporting orientation of the club are high.
