Rapid escape in front of the police: drug discovery in St. Pölten shocked!
St. Pölten, Österreich - On June 1, 2025, a 33-year-old man from St. Pölten withdrew a police check in Traisen when he drove towards St. Pölten at an excessive speed on the B20. Despite the marks of the police, the driver fled and continued his journey, which resulted in a search after him. However, this was initially unsuccessful. Around an hour and a half after the incident, around 3:20 p.m., the fleeting driver was finally checked as a pedestrian in Rotheau, where he admitted to consumed addictive substances. A drug test confirmed this consumption, which led to the immediate temporary acceptance of his driver's license, such as 5min.at.
After the check on the Rotheau, there were further suspicions that resulted in a search of his apartment in St. Pölten. The officers found around 13 grams of marijuana, mostly in the form of flowers, and an indoor system with eight fully flowering cannabis plants, which had a height of 90 to 95 cm. In addition to the provisional driving license acceptance, the drug discovery led to several advertisements against the man, both at the district administration Lilienfeld and to the St. Pölten public prosecutor in accordance with the Suntar Affairs Act. This extraordinary escape campaign and the subsequent drug discovery show how closely the police are faced with drug crime in the region, as well as of meinzirk.at.
drug situation in Austria
The incidents related to drug use and production facilities are not isolated in Austria. According to the annual "report on the drug situation in Austria", which is commissioned by the European observation center for drugs and drug addiction and the Ministry of Health, the development of illegal drugs is a recurring topic. The report not only deals with the epidemiological situation, but also political and legal framework conditions as well as measures to reduce demand. The last update of the report took place on January 29, 2024 and offers detailed insights into drug -related offenses and the associated challenges for society, as on [Social Ministry.gv.at] (https://www.socialministerium.gv.at/themen/gesundheit/drogen-undsucht/suchtmittellt-nps-nps-Drogen output materials/bericht-und-statistiken/bericht-zur-drogensitung-in-in-in austria.html).
The data collected illustrates that drug use and trading continue to represent problematic topics in the region. Incidents such as that in St. Pölten are indications of the need for increased measures to combat drug crime and to clarify the population about the risks of consumption. The behavior of the 33-year-old could also be understood as a warning signal that underlines the urgency of prevention measures.
