Austria's hopefuls Pallitsch and Bredlinger at the World Cup in China!
An exciting chapter in athletics is about to begin: two athletes from Austria will compete at the upcoming World Indoor Championships in China, which will take place from March 21st to 23rd. How orf.at reports, the experienced Raphael Pallitsch has qualified for the 1,500 meters after recently setting a new Austrian record of 3:36.34 minutes. The runner from Oggau was recalled to the competition calendar after his preliminary run at the European Championships and is hoping for better luck in a strong starting field of 30 athletes.
His colleague Caroline Bredlinger is taking part in her first World Championships in the 800 meters. The Burgenland native was able to qualify as number 24 in the annual rankings. However, the competition will be particularly fierce here, as 17 runners have already stayed under two minutes this season. She plans to beat her best time of just over two minutes and two seconds, as reported by NÖN.at is reported.
Challenges and opponents
The participation of Pallitsch and Bredlinger is remarkable, especially since many of their teammates have canceled and seven athletes are already prepared for the outdoor season. Pallitsch will have to compete against strong runners from Africa and the USA, which increases the challenges for the duo. Despite this fierce competition, hopes for successful finishes remain high for both athletes.
