Austrians doubt the health system: reforms are urgently needed!
Austrians see red! A new survey shows that trust in the healthcare system is wavering massively. According to a recent survey by Marketagent, 55 percent of respondents feel the need for comprehensive reform. Particularly worrying: 68 percent of participants complain that the quality of treatment depends heavily on whether they have private or statutory insurance. These results reflect the great discontent that has long been simmering among the population the press reported.
The survey was carried out as part of the “Health Makers Festival” and included 1,020 people in the period from January 29th to February 4th, 2025. The fluctuation range is +/- 3.1 percent. The decline in trust in conventional medicine is astonishing: Only 58 percent of those surveyed stated that they trust conventional medicine “a lot” or “somewhat”. Things don't look any better when it comes to vaccinations - only 55 percent think they are important and have trust in the vaccines approved in Austria. This is particularly alarming as approval among the 14 to 19 year old age group is surprisingly positive at 67 percent, while older respondents tend to be more confident express reported.
Overall, it is clear that Austrians see an urgent need for reform in their health system in order to ensure fairer and better quality treatment for everyone. The concerns are great and the voices of the population are demanding quick action from politicians in order to restore trust.
