50 years of the Perg Commercial Academy: A look back at five decades of success
The Perg Commercial Academy can look back on an impressive success story spanning 50 years. The anniversary was celebrated on Friday, September 27th, in the Perg gymnasium. Numerous guests from education, politics and the former student body were present to witness this special event.
Since its founding in 1974, HAK Perg has prepared a total of 2,439 graduates for their careers. In her opening speech, director Gabriela Teubenbacher emphasized that the HAK is considered Perg's business school, which offers numerous extensions.
A look back with a special format
As part of a “couch discussion” moderated by Mario Sacher, the school’s past was looked back on. Important personalities were represented, including Judith Prorok from the Upper Austria University of Education and Manfred Nenning, a successful HAK graduate and managing director. In an entertaining reminiscence, objects from the last five decades were presented, including an old timetable and a mechanical typewriter, which offered insights into the developments in everyday school life in recent years.
Director of Education Alfred Klampfer and Mayor Anton Froschauer focused on the changes within the educational landscape in their speeches. The importance of anniversaries was emphasized both to honor achievements and to provide motivation for future challenges. "It's important to celebrate anniversaries. This is where connections for life are created," says Froschauer.
Special guests and musical accompaniment
Special guests of honor on this festive day included members of the first Matura class as well as alumni of the “nerd club” from 1982. These alumni maintain close friendships to this day. The school band “Schoolyard Revolution” and the HAK wind ensemble provided musical accompaniment. Another highlight was the performance of Ibrahim Sherbaji, a 2019 HAK graduate, who received great applause for his performance.
The organization of the anniversary was undertaken by a group of high school graduates as part of their diploma thesis, under the guidance of Professor Gudrun Lageder. Marco Hofer and Matthias Froschauer were also responsible for creating a school image film that presents the past and present of the HAK.
