From Braunau to Dublin: Students explore culture and professional world
In the education sector of HLW Braunau, an exciting experience for some students from 5BHL has taken place. Shortly before the end of the summer vacation, five vigorous young women made their way to Ireland. After their internship back in Austria, they returned to school a week later and had many impressions in their luggage. Melissa Farah and Marlene Auer started first, followed by Anna Albrecht, Marlene Paischer and Franziska Fankhauser, who traveled to Dublin a little later.
The organization of this exciting journey took over the ADC College based in Dublin, which arranged both the internships and the host families. "Thanks to the Erasmus program of the European Union, we were able to realize this opportunity," reported Melissa Farah and added that her only costs were the flight tickets and daily lunch. Each of them gained individual experiences in various appointments and was able to gain a deep insight.
insights into the professional world and Irish life
During their stay in Ireland, the students worked in various facilities. For example, Melissa was able to spend three weeks at "The Blink Group", where she immersed the world of event planning, including preparations for Halloween and Christmas. Marlene Auer, on the other hand, was active at “Gifts of Ireland”, an online shop for typical Irish souvenirs. Marlene Paischer experienced an international flair with an internship at Sey Tax Ltd., where she received an insight into taxation and relationships between Irish and US companies. Anna Albrecht worked at the "Babel Academy of English", who already looked after several HLW students on their language trips. Franziska Fankhauser, on the other hand, was active at “Abre Solicitors and Notary Public”, where she got to know the activity of a public notary. But everyday life was not only of office work. The students took numerous excursions and experienced the beauty of Ireland. For example, they visited Belfast, the legendary Cliffs of Moher and the impressive Galway landscape. Smaller places in the Dublin area were also explored, including a little hike to the Bray Head. "We were lucky enough to relax on the beach of Greystones and get to know the traditions of the pubs in Dublin. A real Irish Guinness was replaced by delicious Apple Cider," said Melissa with a smile.
"These experiences were invaluable for us. Even if our internships did not always offer great challenges, we had enough opportunities to discover a new country and the culture there. As part of the Erasmus program, we have received many options that we appreciate very much," she added.
Erasmus+: A chance for young people
The Erasmus program is known for its support in vocational training and offers participants the opportunity to gain experience in Europe. Travel and stay costs can be funded from a stay of only 10 days. So it is a valuable option for young people who want to expand their professional and personal horizons.
The HLW Braunau shows a committed endeavor to enable its students such experience and thus make a significant contribution to their future. Practically applied experiences, coupled with intercultural exchange, are crucial for the development of young people in today's global society.
As the students report themselves, such programs not only represent a challenge, but also a nice encouragement to break new ground and to discover the world. Details and further information on your trip can be to read here .
