Flag dispute to HTL Braunau: Who decides on symbols in the classroom?
A hotly debated topic is currently causing heated minds at HTL Braunau: the Austrian flag with the national coat of arms, which was hung up by students in a classroom, had to be removed again. The reason for this drastic measure is the ambiguity of the legal provisions for the use of the federal government. According to the coat of arms law, only certain persons, such as members of the Federal Government and Governor, may use this flag as part of their state -related functions, which is not the case in a school. This reports the Krone .
The school management decided to lose the flag in order to avoid legal consequences. With unauthorized use, a fine of up to 3,600 euros could threaten. Director Gerda Schneeberger expressed that the students wanted to educate the students and think it is best to hang out the flag until the legal situation is finally clarified. The educational directorate is now required to clarify this uncertain location. If it turns out that the service flag can be attached in a classroom, the flag can be hung up again at any time, says Schneeberger, as MeinDärzirk reported.
