New hiking trail in Höllental: Security for pilgrimage groups guaranteed!
Reichenau an der Rax, Österreich - An important step comes to the hikers! The river hiking trail along the Schwarza finally gets a drastic extension. The existing water pipe has so far only extends from Hirschwang to Kaiserbrunn, but thanks to the initiative of nature lovers, another section will be opened shortly. This development brings an enormous safety plus for pedestrians who have to cross the busy federal road B27 in the Höllental, especially the pilgrims that march here every year.
This planned path connection is generously promoted by the state of Lower Austria, but the municipalities of Reichenau/Rax and Schwarzau in the mountains had to take care of around 100,000 euros independently. The entire expansion should cost between 770,000 and 800,000 euros. Hubert Prigl from the nature lovers and the mechanical house host Manuela Grabherr-Gappmayer have persistently searched for donors to realize the project and also already received substantial contributions from Ecoplus (60 percent) and the city of Vienna (15 percent). Many private donors, such as the Parkhotel Hirschwang, also contributed to financing and hereby secured around 55,000 euros.
The construction work start soon!
In the next two years, the missing route of around 8.5 kilometers, which previously had to be covered along the federal road, will be rebuilt. According to Andreas Schieder, the chairman of the Naturfreunde Austria, this new connection creates a continuous, safe hiking trail for all ages that leads from Payerbach-Reichenau station to Schwarzau in the mountains and at the same time offers a connection to public transport.
