First Advent market in Horn: Together for Indian children's homes!

On November 29, Horn will be transformed into a Christmas festival. For the first time, a Christmas market takes place in the streets of the village, after the traditional advent event has only been held in the closed rooms of the Evangelical parish in recent years. For the residents, this means not only a change in the concept, but also a varied program with a punch theater and appearances of the school choir.

Felix Luginbühl, the chairman of the Horner village project, explained that the event needed a fresh breeze because the old form was less and less visited. "It was getting boring," said Luginbühl. Therefore, the Advent market team and the trade association worked together to develop the new concept that is supposed to provide more life and visitors next Friday along Kirchstrasse.

The Christmas market also has a charitable purpose. The income benefits the village project Horn, which has been running since 1992. This year, two children's homes are collected in northern India, which house a total of 70 children in need. "It is often an orphans or children whose parents cannot provide their maintenance," says Luginbühl. The organization, which consists of members of the political community, churches and the school community, is convinced that they can provide great help through this market.

On Thursday, November 28th, the stands will be prepared. The municipality ensures everything necessary such as electricity and decoration, and local providers present their products. A total of around ten stands are opened where baked goods, handmade Advent wreaths and other Christmas decorations are sold. The advent wreaths are particularly important because they generate a large part of the proceeds, with an estimated around CHF 1,500.

Another highlight are the culinary offers. There will be raclett stands and a mobile pizza bakery that prepares fresh pizza. The sweet tooth is also provided: cotton candy is provided by the Edelzucker Horn company. In addition, a stand with mulled wine and punch are operated by the trade association, with the schoolchildren receiving vouchers for free snacks in order to also reach the younger audience.

The Christmas market is accompanied by the Musikgesellschaft Tübach-Horn, which ensures festive sounds. The children's choir of the primary school appears in the senior center, and immediately afterwards a small group of singers with pop and rock songs will provide entertainment. One of the attractions for the little ones is the Kasperlitheater, which is often popular and where numerous children and parents always gather.

How many visitors will ultimately come is difficult, but those responsible are optimistic that the new format will be well received. Luginbühl states that his forecast is between 30 and 300, and he is looking forward to experiencing the Advent event. The first Christmas market in Horn will not only be a festive occasion for the whole family, but also a way to help children in need in northern India. This once more emphasizes how important communal actions are - both for the village community and for the people in need that are dependent on support.
